Ingredients:
- 1 ea yeast pkg
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 c warm water
- 2 c hot milk
- 1/4 c shortening
- 1/4 c sugar
- 1 1/2 c raisins
- 1 tbs. salt
- 1 tbs. cinnamon
- 5 1/2 c flour
Instructions:
Yield: 2 Loaves
1) In a small bowl dissolve:
2) 1 pkg of yeast
3) 1 tsp of sugar
4) 1/2 cups of warm water
5) Let rise.
6) In a large bowl:
7) Pour in:
8) 2 cups of hot milk.
9) 1/4 cup sugar
10) 1 tbs salt
11) 1 tbs cinnamon
12) 1/4 cup shortening
13) 1- 1/2 cups of raisins
14) Add half the flour. Stir and then add the yeast mixture.
15) Add the remaining flour.
16) Knead, for about 8-10 minutes.
17) Rub shortening around the bowl and top of dough. Cover with cellophane.
18) Let rise for about 2 hours.
19) Shape into loaves and let rise again and then bake.
20) Bake at: 400° for about 15 minutes and then reduce heat to 375° for about 35 minutes.
